OFAD Mix .01 - Life Inside

OFAD Mix .01 - Life Inside

Inside is an interesting place to be if you are required to stay there during a state of a mass pandemic due to the COVID-19 virus. This mix contains tunes that can help get you through these times and complications, reflection, and sound health during these crazy times.

Typos be in our Blood

The powers of...

Some awesome stuff floating around by some amazing folks on what they are up to during these times. I find a great deal of inspiration from how and what people are doing at a time like this, its comforting and inspiring. One major revelation in this time is how essential things like music, comedy, and sharing of our daily lives is becoming. I just wanted to put out some of these vibes right now and comment a bit about the we that is us.

Cheers to resilience and staying up while staying inside,

— Mike from OFAD

Where do you call and what do you feel, how do you stay safe, and how do you care? Home... it's a place of orientation and a space for grounding of the heart and soul.
Inside us all icon

What is inside? Well sorta inside...

The challenge we are facing is surreal and the state of the world is quite insane right now. Everything we know is turned on its axis and it feels a little like we are in an out of control episode of the Black Mirror or The Twilight Zone.

As I sat down to make this mix I started to think about how important it is in these times to recognize the human in us all and the level of adaptability we all have. I look around at my family and friends and see how strong they are and how one another adapts and makes the best out of things right now.

Home is where I want to be
Pick me up and turn me around
I feel numb, born with a weak heart
I guess I must be having fun

This event is showing us that... We are an us and that means all of us that we are. As this world turns time will change this game and our lives will normalize in one way or another. This event is due to change the future in many ways, the ideas we have and the way we live will ultimately be affected. Distance, process, intimacy, sharing, communication, and a ton of other things that we assume as normalcy will have to shift a bit and may not shift back to its original state.

The less we say about it the better
Make it up as we go along
Feet on the ground, head in the sky
It's okay, I know nothing's wrong, nothing

Being close to one another has always been difficult, our opinions, beliefs, misunderstandings, and needs all lend themselves to a distance greater than 6 feet.

Going forward we may have trouble allowing ourselves to get close to one another without fear or skepticism. When you really think about it distance is not new for us but will now have a dynamic all of its own.

Oh! I got plenty of time
Oh! You got light in your eyes
And you're standing here beside me
I love the passing of time
Never for money, always for love
Cover up and say goodnight, say goodnight

The ability to recognize the similarity we share at a time like this is the grounding force for us all as humans; we truly are in this together and crises will draw no lines this time around.

Right now we have an opportunity to reflect, look inward, look outward, and really look at who we are in our lives with the ones we love. This perspective is rare and can be a good opportunity for one another to come out of this thing with a greater understanding of ourselves and empathy for others.

This mix is just a snapshot of songs that help me to better understand, distract, reflect, keep the stoke up. It’s important to brighten up the every day as we remain a bit pinned inside.
